Many people dream of their own radio stations, but the costs are too high and it requires countless approvals for broadcasting. Fortunately, broadcasting on the Internet doesn't require any paperwork and it costs next to nothing. If you decide to establish your own online radio station, RadioCaster can help you make the necessary preparations without too much effort. The application is capable of streaming audio signals from hardware input devices or media players over the Internet, via Shoutcast or Icecast.

RadioCaster is free to try, without any serious limitations. It works on all modern Windows platforms and it provides full support for both 32 and 64-bit versions. The application can be installed in a few seconds, without any difficulties. It doesn't require any codecs or other additional tools and it has an insignificant impact on a computer's performance.

The application allows you to set up one or more broadcasts. They are displayed in a list, on a compact user interface and you can enable them right away, by clicking their corresponding check boxes. New broadcasts can be defined on a separate window, on which you have to specify a server address and a password. You can also choose a metadata encoding method, a sample and bit rate, encoder type and a number of channels. It is also possible to specify a few details about the radio station, like its name, genre, URL and others.

A wizard can help you configure your broadcast server. It allows you to choose from different server types, like Shoutcast (V1 or V2), Icecast or a Windows Media Server. Alternatively, you can opt for a built-in server. Depending on your choice, the wizard will present different options during the next steps. You can specify a host name or IP address and a port of your choice, create a username and password and more.

The music you play on your preferred media player or the sounds coming from your microphone will be streamed without any further user input. Active broadcasts are displayed together with their encoders, as well as the current and maximum number of listeners. The status of your broadcasts can be found on a tabbed window. You can also set up equalizers and compressors, on a different window. The application allows you to create several tools of the same type and activate or deactivate them by clicking their check boxes. Other useful configurations can be made in the general settings menu, where you can choose a driver, sample frequency and much more.

Pros

You can broadcast audio signals over the Internet, just like any online radio station. The application allows you to define several broadcasts, which can be defined with the aid of a wizard.

Cons

A help file or a tutorial would be a welcome feature. RadioCaster gives you the possibility of creating and managing your own online radio station without too much effort.
